Philosophy I Disassembly, survey and inventory I Handling, packaging and storing operations I Restoration tecniques I Cooperation I Tuning and temperament

Once the necessary data has been collected, we go ahead with the disassembly documenting in a detailed fashion, all operations performed and the status of the parts; we also mark, photograph, develop plans and consider dimensions. Direct surveys are of utmost importance for the planning of an intervention, especially in the cases regarding highly compromised and complex hand-made pieces. This is how we are capable of highlighting elements that are normally invisible during a regular use, such as the status of the wind trunks, of the wind lines, the level of the termite aggression, fractures and air passages. Therefore, in the restoration process, an analytical and careful documentation becomes a phase that cannot be repeated nor given up. For each layer we survey all the parts of the windchest, sections and layouts. On average, at least on five drawings. The major remaining parts are drawn in scale 1:1, scanned and saved digitally.
